This category actually used to be called THE SONG until I realized I was always and only recommending arty, sorrowful covers of older pop tunes - like this bittersweet little number.

ANTICIPATED PLEASURE:
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince by J.K. Rowling (read by Jim Dale). At this point, little Harry Potter is just about the biggest multimedia phenomenon in all of make-believe. There's the books, the movies, the video game. The most appealing facet of this particular pop culture gem, however, might be Jim Dale's rich, good-humored, imaginative (and unabridged) readings. Listen to just one of the stories this way, and you're hooked.
